Watch Out! 5 Bad Oral Habits That Can Damage Your Teeth
We all take our teeth for granted and use them for things they are not meant for. The following are a few examples:
- Chewing on ice cubes, which can break the teeth, old filling and crowns.
- Biting on nuts with hard shells such as walnuts, almonds and pistachios. These can break the teeth at weird angles and make the edges rough and sharp.
- Lip and cheek biting can result in ulceration of lips and inner lining of cheeks. This will make them hurt with hot, cold, sour and spicy food.
- Nail biting can cause infections in the oral cavity if nails are not kept clean all the time. Teeth can also get fracture lines and worn down.
- Eating food on one side of the mouth can cause under use of one side and over use on the other side. This can result in imbalance of chewing forces and is not good for teeth.
Don’t forget that teeth are meant for cutting and chewing food only.
